John 16:13-14 (ESV)
13 “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. 14 He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you.”
The “me” refers to Jesus Christ.
If you’ve ever wondered about the role of the Holy Spirit, this sums it up pretty well.
He glorifies God.
It’s not about receiving spiritual gifts. Although that can enable us to glorify God.
It is about “declaring … the things that are to come”. The truth.
And the truth is that Jesus is “the way, and the truth, and the life” (John 14:6).
There is no other way.
