a new creation

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” 2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV)

After reading yesterday how there is nothing new you’d be forgiven for being somewhat confused.

But there is no contradiction between the conflicting statements as they’re two sides of the same coin.

Yesterday was about how human nature and the history we create through our actions repeats itself. Repeatedly.

Without God we are doomed to an inevitable cycle of sinful behaviour and its painful consequences.

However, God offers us a way out of this rut.

If we are “in Christ”.

There are no alternative methods. No other paths.

For Jesus is “the way, and the truth, and the life” (John 14:6).

We cannot pick-and-choose a religion to suit our own inclinations and interests and personal beliefs.

Only through Christ.

But how wonderful it is that we can be “washed” (1 Corinthians 6:11) clean.

Because once we accept Him as our Lord and Saviour we are no longer under God’s “condemnation” (Romans 8:1).

We are “reconciled” to God through Christ (2 Corinthians 5:18).

prayer : thank you that I am a new creation

action : help make me a better “ambassador for Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:20)
